Alaska Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (AK VOAD)
A Coordinated Effort by State of Alaska DHSEM and Voluntary Agencies through Alaska VOAD. Alaska VOAD is actively responding to the needs of communities across the YK Delta that have been impacted by the coastal storms. Below, you will find information regarding active Alaska VOAD agencies and all current response and recovery efforts.

Housing & Long-Term Recovery
- Sheltering: All mass congregate shelters have been closed. The focus continues to be on moving all displaced residents into hotel-based, noncongregate transitional housing (NCS).
- Immediate Support: American Red Cross (ARC) teams are providing case work in noncongregate transitional housing—health, human services, individual application assistance, and transportation resources—to all households in the NCS hotels. ARC is providing additional financial assistance to survivors.
- Long-Term Recovery Group: The Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG) is forming now. UMCOR with support from Rural Cap Alaska is on standby ready to lead establishing Disaster Case Management (DCM) efforts to help survivors transition from hotels to permanent housing. Northern Area Disaster Relief (NADR) is coordinating the LTRG in the northern region. First meeting is planned for Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

In-Kind Donations (New Items Only)

- Drop-Off Hours: 7 days a week, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Online Goods: The Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) has posted an Amazon wishlist for items to distribute to villages here.

- Non-traditional foods, such as canned goods or dry pantry staples, to the Food Bank of Alaska.
- Traditional Native:
- Alaska Native Heritage Center: primarily looking for frozen food, able to accept traditional foods and bulk, staple food donations such as vegetables, meats, etc.
- Instructions for Donating: Please sign up for donation windows using this link. If you are unable to sign up, please call 907-205-0068 to coordinate a drop-off time. When you arrive for your scheduled drop-off appointment, please park near the freezer for donations located by the Feller Building (detached garage on the admin side of ANHC’s campus). To streamline response efforts and resource allocation, please utilize this form to submit your agency’s operational data and field reports to Alaska VOAD. Timely submission of impact narratives, data on met and unmet needs, and submission of photos and stories is essential in understanding the needs alongside the incredible impact that your organization is actively doing for communities impacted by a disaster. This information is compiled into formal reports shared with governmental partners (FEMA, State EOC) and vital stakeholders to ensure non-duplicated effort and maximum support for all VOAD member activities now and in the future.
